The Failure of "Everything in Moderation"

The eating theory of eating "everything in moderation" does not work as people have different definitions of what constitutes a moderate amount, especially for foods they eat more frequently.  This isn't to say you shouldn't enjoy a treat occassionally, but don't fool yourself into thinking you have enough self-control to only eat or drink moderate amounts of your favorite treats.  This theory also fails the common sense test.  You should be eating healthy foods in much higher proportions than unhealthy foods...not in equal, moderate amounts.
